I lost around $1,000. I got drained. Here’s what happened:
I received a message on X from someone I follow. He’s a well-known person in the Ordinals space and trusted by many. This person requested to have a podcast with me.
I was happy and immediately agreed. However, he claimed the podcast would happen on a specific website.
He sent me the website, and when I clicked on it, it automatically downloaded malware onto my PC, which allowed him to access my desktop.
I’m not sure what exactly he was able to access, but one thing is certain he accessed my Arena Wallet. Not necessarily my Arena account, but specifically the Arena Wallet.
He sent all the
$FUNK I had, along with a few other tokens, to a fresh wallet and sold everything.
He left behind my staked
$ARENA, some Arena-native tokens, and my tickets.
Since I had over $500 invested in community tickets, I was also worried he might drain those funds, kick me out of the account, and sell everything.
I’ve been advised by
@CryptoTamsn to take the following steps:
Sell all my tickets for the community and repump the funds into
$Funk in the coming days.
This way, we can compensate the people whose tickets we sold, pump the
$FUNK chart, and add more
$FUNK to my own bag—which I’ll then be able to give away. So even though I’m selling the tickets, I’m using that money to give back to the people who believed in me and the
$FUNK token. That’s my gift and my apology to you.
As of now, we are contacting
@jasonmdesimone ,
@CollinCusce , and
@TheArenaApp to see if we can save the account and set up a new wallet. Otherwise, I’ll have to use another account to continue streaming and spreading the
$FUNK!
I am currently changing all my passwords, resetting 2FA, and formatting my main desktop.
What I know about the hack:
Apparently, this virus is contagious. If someone gains access to your PC, they can log you out of X, access your account, and start DM’ing your followers with scam links. Since your followers trust you, they might fall for the scam.
Please do not click on any links coming from my account over the next few days, as I don’t know the extent of the hacker’s access yet.
For context, the hacker also gained access to BillyXBT’s account. Billy is a good guy, but his account is currently in the hacker’s hands not his.
Stay safe everyone. This only motivates me more to work on
$FUNK and pour my heart and soul into it. The evil goblins of the world will not break me. We will rise stronger and bigger!
